Exhibits

Every three to four months, the Noel Collection puts up a new exhibition of its materials. These exhibits are meant to introduce viewers to the wide range of subjects covered by the collection and thereby incite further study. We will announce new exhibits on the home page, here and on our social media outlets.

Sacred Spaces: Books & Prints of Sacral Architecture from Around the World

Current Exhibit:

August 15, 2024 – November 8, 2024
James Smith Noel Collection
Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
3rd floor Noel Memorial Library, LSUS (on Youree)

The inspirational design and unique construction of sacred places are highlighted in our latest exhibit of books and prints from the 19th and 20th centuries found in the James Smith Noel Collection. From the cathedrals of Europe to the ancient stone structures of the Middle East to the graceful and elegant temples of Asia, the architectural wonders and cultural significance of places of worship are examined in their infinite variety. Come and join us on this fascinating journey as we examine the many kinds of sacred spaces throughout history, from ancient civilizations to modern representations.
