April 10, 2024 - August 11, 2024
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The spring and summer of are the season of the rose and this was the focus of Petals of Importance & Influence: An Exhibit regarding the Rose by the James Smith Noel Collection. We gathered various materials ranging from the 17th through the 20th century that not only showcase the floral beauty of the rose but also its historical influence. This included a look at a little series of English civil wars more famously known as the War of the Roses; literary works inspired by the roses and gardens; and also, a glimpse at the rose window in Gothic architecture.
